Valley restoration helps Gozo village win EU award

The quant village of Għarb, which revived its once-neglected Wied il-Mielaħ over the past eight years, has been crowned a European Destination of Excellence by the European Commission.

Wied il-Mielaħ (salty valley), situated in the northern part of the village, has now become an important eco-touristic landscape in the village, mayor David Apap Agius said. It had for years served as a dumping site and sewage outflow.
